Neighbourhood Plan

In October 2025, the Parish Council agreed to support the formation of a Neighbourhood Plan for the Thurnby and Bushby parish. This will give the Council more control and influence over future planning and development in the parish. Neighbourhood Plans have their origins in the 2011 Localism Act with the aim of giving communities more power over local developments.

Before a NP is adopted and incorporated into the District Council Local plan it will be subject to independent examination and a referendum which must be approved by over 50% of local residents.

The Parish Council is in the process of appointing an Advisory Committee, presently made up of the following:

Melanie Wakley (Chair).

Residents who would be interested in becoming involved, and are interested in being appointed to the Advisory Committee, can contact either Melanie or the Parish Clerk for further information.

The Terms of Reference for the Advisory Committee can be found under the Council's 'Documents' page.
